Why are you interested in becoming a Trustee?
I'm interested in becoming a trustee because I truly care about San Francisco's entrepreneur and small business community and hope to use my network to truly help more individuals succeed.
Tell us about your profession or other relevant background.
I currently am a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. I was elected in 2010 to represent San Francisco's District 2 at the Board of Supervisors.
Do you belong to any professional networks -- nationally, regionally, or locally? If yes, please list.
Chair of the Budget and Finance Committee, as a Member of the City and School District Committee, as a Member of the Transportation Authority, as a Member of the Transportation Authority’s Finance Committee, as a Member of the State Legislation Committee, as a Member of the Health Service System Board, as a Mayoral appointee to the League of California Cities, on the Department of Emergency Management Disaster Council, on the San Francisco America's Cup Organizing Committee, and on the 2016-17 Super Bowl Bid Committee.
How will you decide who to endorse as a borrower? What due diligence will you conduct?
I will decide to endorse borrowers based on the personal relationships I have with that business and emerging or successful businesses that are located within the District I represent that are a positive addition to the broader community. I will also welcome individual businesses and entrepreneurs located within the district I represent to request that I endorse them as a borrower.
How do you plan to support the borrower, both before and after the loan is disbursed?
I plan to expose and introduce the borrower to my extended network through various communications in order to provide them support. I plan to send out email blasts to my network and make personal calls as well.
How will you help us ensure that the loans you endorse have a significant and positive social impact?
I will ensure that the borrowers I suggest for support are positive additions to our community and neighborhoods. I hope the loans will have a significant positive impact not only for the individual business or entrepreneur, but also for the broader community.
