Trustee: Charles Davis
US Small Business Administraton - Econ Dev Spec
North Little Rock, AR
Why are you interested in becoming a Trustee?
I desire to help people that live in one of the most economically depressed parts of the US -- The Delta.
Tell us about your profession or other relevant background.
I have an MBA and 40 years business ownership and development experience. I have considerable international business experience. Additionally, I am a retired Colonel in the US Army Reserves
Do you belong to any professional networks -- nationally, regionally, or locally? If yes, please list.
I am on the Board of Directors for the NLR Chamber of Commerce. I serve as advisor to boards of several economic development organizations. I am a Silent Knight.
How will you decide who to endorse as a borrower? What due diligence will you conduct?
I will be fairly selective in who I endorse. I have provided consulting to somewhere between 2500 and 3000 clients over a 40 year period so I have a pretty good feel regarding what to look for. I review financial information and then I ask just 4 or 5 questions; two will be hard questions.
How do you plan to support the borrower, both before and after the loan is disbursed?
Irwin Lewis is a Disabled Vet. He took the better part of an IED though his legs in Iraq and I have been working with him for two years trying to reestablish his credit. Once loan is made I will check on him probably two or three times a month. I am the coordinator for SCORE in Arkansas and will use them to help if needed
How will you help us ensure that the loans you endorse have a significant and positive social impact?
Any new business in Cotton Plant, AR will have a positive social impact. Irwin has some expansion plans in mind and we will assist with these when he is ready
