Trustee: Creative Economy Action Group (CEAG)
Why are you interested in becoming a Trustee?
The Mission of CEAG is "To Create Economic Opportunity for Creative People". Kiva Zip is the perfect catalyst to build/improve an Infrastructure to that enables that goal. CEAG is interested in funding projects that pursue and enhance the artistic quality of life and those that help provide foundation to the larger Creative Economy. By enabling creatives and empowering the community at large to engage in their creative activities and enterprises this can be done.
What is the mission of your organization?
To Create Economic Opportunity for Creative People
In the past, how effective have you been in achieving this mission?
CEAG has worked with various partners to produce success. We have created guides to the local area Galleries. We have created a program that enables the local library to buy local resident musicians albums called "That Fayetteville Sound." We restarted a New Years Eve celebration called Last Night Fayetteville, which has paid out thousands to artists in 2011 and 2012. In 2012 we began work on a regional creative directory. Certainly, evaluation of impact includes money being circulated through local creatives, but it is also in education of the public in the value of the creative economy and empowering all classes of people to interact with robust cultural experiences that enhance the community.
Do you belong to any organizational networks -- nationally, regionally, or locally? If yes, please list.
CEAG was formed out of the Fayetteville Forward Economic Accountability Council and remains in connection with the broader FFEAC. In addition, the many members of CEAG may also be linked with other groups, making CEAG an optimal networking environment.
How will you decide who to endorse as a borrower? What due diligence will you conduct?
CEAG will visit with all borrowers to get to know the person and the business and take time to discuss with them what the loan will be used for and know how that will impact the business and their lives. In this discussion CEAG will review business plans and any other applicable products/materials that relate to the business. It is important that the borrower be in a place that they can execute the plan and that they have a plan that has potential positive impact on their cash flow.
How do you plan to support the borrower, both before and after the loan is disbursed?
Being very engaged in the community, CEAG has a large network of people that can be reached out to for resources and advice. CEAG can advise the borrower on professional business matters as they apply to the creative. It may be that the borrow just needs a spring board to bounce an foreseen challenge off of, or needs an action tweaked ever so slightly. After loans have been initiated, a line of communication can remain open to the borrowers for further insights. CEAG has a diverse group of creatives who attend monthly meetings that can help to facilitate success and growth.
How will you help us ensure that the loans you endorse have a significant and positive social impact?
Social impact may be a very big measurable thing, or it may be a seemingly small thing that has a large impact that can ripple out. CEAG's goal would be to help those who will ultimately pay it forward. CEAG will work so that the loans that are written will help the community to grow with vibrancy. CEAG seeks those who would help others, those that would help themselves, those that will create something beautiful in life, those building a resource for others to build upon. CEAG will endorse loans that will enhance the creative output of the whole and those that engage the community. When community culture is engaged and grown it has positive effect on the vitality of the broader economy.
