Why are you interested in becoming a Trustee?
Beacause i work specifically with impoverished young girls,children,women and men in the slum communities of Eastlands parts of Nairobi and Kiva is about bringing real change in life economically to such people through collaboration.
What is the mission of your organization?
providing a safe space mentally,physically,emotionally,socially and economically for children, young girls and young women to envision and pursue the future they want for themselves and their communities through lifeskills and reproductive health training and awareness,arts and sports,proffessional development and entreprenueship.
In the past, how effective have you been in achieving this mission?
-10 girls have gotten high school basketball scholarship -6 girls are still undergoing automobile mechanics training and work part time after training for only 2 years. -Early pregnancy has reduced by 10% as more girls are staying in school.This is achieved through lifeskills and RH training and awareness -5 girls have been trained on photography and editing videos and document most of the programme activites. -50 mothers have started small scale businesses after saving as little as 20ksh for 6 months.

How will you decide who to endorse as a borrower? What due diligence will you conduct?
-I will endorse young women who have been very active in our safe motherhood savings and borrowing programme . -will endorse the women who have a clean record of repaying the borrowed money in the programme. -young community members willing to start small businesses but have no capital. I will check the records of their busineeses,their previous loan experiences,if they are registered with mpesa account or how do they operate their income and expenditure,will also ask for recommendation from other community members eg chief.The first beneficiaries will be mothers of the kids in the safe spaces programme.
How do you plan to support the borrower, both before and after the loan is disbursed?
-before borrowing- conduct a business workshop,discuss the potential challenges and agree on how to work them out before getting the loan,agree on penalties of defaulting. -after borrowing- monitor the progress of the business,sending reminders on payment dates,making sure the borrowers pay the money.
How will you help us ensure that the loans you endorse have a significant and positive social impact?
-provide monthly reports. -send photos and video testimonies. -invite you to witness first hand by visiting the beneficiaries.
