Personal Story

My name is Fosca Nekesa Munana and I was born in Samia district, in a family of 8 children, 4 girls and 4 boys. I went to school in Nagina primary school and later joined Nagina secondary school.

Immediately after school I got married and am blessed with 7 children, 4 boys and 3 girls. I was employed by Nangina Mission Hospital as a patient attendant from 1980-2001. Within this I was trained for 1 year as a patient attendant.

Personal Update - Mar 19, 2013

I purchased more drugs with the money from the previous loan and this has helped a lot as the number of patients has increased.

Business Description

I started Namenya CFWclinic in December 2006, because I wanted to get income for my family but also because I wanted to see my community get medical services easily.

I have engaged a registered nurse who comes to the clinic every day and is responsible for diagnosis and prescription of needed medicines to the patient.

Most of my clients are women and children. Funyula is a farming community whose main cash crop is maize grain and to a small population run small businesses.

Therefore some of the clients have to depend on their relatives to get money for hospital visit.

By the end of 2012, I want to start maternal child health services. I want to be able to immunise children as I am already teaching the mothers on how to care and feed their children.

Business Update - Mar 19, 2013

The business has improved. I used to see upto 10 patients daily but now the clients have increased to 15 per day on average.

The clinic is situated in a rural setting and the community does not have other reliable health care providers. Fosca is therefore focused on introducing additional maternal child health services initially. She has future plans of also establishing a basic laboratory within the clinic to help improve on diagnosis.
