Personal Story

I am the oldest of three brothers who grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas throughout the 1960s. My mother stayed at home, while my father was either a reporter for the Arkansas Democrat, or taking part in a variety of advertising ventures. I started out in art by drawing on the walls of my home. I was possessed by a need to improve upon whatever I had done before. The compliments I received from my teachers and fellow students always encouraged me to continue pursuing art.

As an introvert, it has always difficult for me to promote myself. In my private time, I focus on my painting, and I try hard to develop more than one style or approach to my art. I have maintained the lofty dream of one day building my own log house in a rural county, where my family has property, to create a studio where I could expand upon my creative output.

In 1978, I was the co-creater of an image that was anonymously placed throughout the Little Rock. Due to the immense popularity of the image, I went on to produce t-shirts with that image. Recently, a second upgraded version was also sold out.

In 1985, I created bowling pin portraits. I have done over 100 of these, including one of our former president, Bill Clinton, which has stayed in the Office of Information at the White House for the last 8 years. I still do these on occasion. I am continuously seeking ways to reach more potential customers.

Business Description

The purpose of my business is to promote the creative energies I have to those who are interested in unique artwork that would be displayed at their discretion. I have maintained the idea of this business for many years and am just now forming a clearer concept of what is necessary to bring it forth.
I envision a worldwide marketplace for the appreciation of what I do. My biggest challenge is reaching art starved clients that might otherwise never know of my potential. Bowling pin portraits and other images painted on a three dimensional surface are just one of the many ideas that I specialize in.

What is the purpose of this loan?

The loan would be spent on new frames to replace old out of style frames for paintings already painted and for paintings that have yet to be painted. I will also purchase art supplies -- such as acrylic/oil paint, turpentine and brushes. My paintings will become more attractive with suitable framing. Art supplies are a necessity for maintaining art production. One thousand dollars will buy at least six frames and basic supplies. This gives me peace of mind in the day to day production of my art, knowing that there is no danger of coming up short on necessary supplies.
