Personal Story

Having grown up in Westbrook, I love the small town friendliness of the people. Everyone is genuinely concerned about their neighbors. I like that I know a lot of the people in town and better yet, they know me and my family, as actively involved in the community and church.
My husband and I have raised five children together. Three have graduated high school and pursuing their careers. One is in 10th grade and one is in 6th grade.
I am looking forward to starting up and operating a cafe concentrating on homecooked meals like my mom and grandma taught me to prepare.

Business Description

I will provide a home cooked balanced meal for the Lutheran Social Service Sr. Dining program which will also be the special of the day for those who don't want to cook for themselves or to the working force who don't want to pack their lunch. I will also have short order options if you do not want the daily special.
I have been wanting to do something like this for several years, but this past year things came into place, so my husband and I decided to go for making thedream come true. I love the satisfaction I get when I can provide a service that people appreciate.
The biggest challenge we have encountered is the building was in worse shape than we were lead to believe when we signed a lease contract. We have had to rebuild more than we originally intended, but in the end I think it will be a very good deal.
I would like to expand into doing catering off site in the next five years. I have already been asked about catering dinners for local organizational meetings. The school has also inquired about beeing open for special events they may want to host.
I am very proud that my husband and I have planned this with our children to make this a family business. We have done as much of the work as we could and have been involved in all the decisions and construction that has happened.

What is the purpose of this loan?

I need to purchase some equipment to complete my kitchen and buy food supplies to get my business up and running. I would like to purchase two fryers, shelving units, an exhaust vent for my dishwasher, various pans and utensils, and build a steam table (where people will be able to sit and eat).

If I can recieve this money I will be able to get started with my dream of, as my son says, "feeding the world". Well I look at is as feeding my little corner of the world anyway. This loan will allow me to concentrate on providing good quality food for my customers.
