Personal Story

Hi. I'm a lifelong entrepreneur. As a young child I used to sell chile, pine cones, and one-cup coffee brewers out of my Red Flyer wagon. In Elementary school I started a door-to-door bread baking business with my brother and we were booming until we forgot to add salt one day. Never underestimate the power of salt. In junior high school and I had quite a racket going selling contraband chewing gum and hard candy to other students until I got shut down by the principal.

I'm a journalist who has written for The New York Times Magazine, National Geographic, Wired, Popular Science, Popular Mechanics and several other national magazines. In 2006 I left media and founded One Day University, which we billed as the ultimate day of college. We brought together the best professors, from the best schools, to give their best lecture (everything from Shakespeare to the Science of Happiness and Nuclear Proliferation in Iran). The Learning Annex purchased One Day U in 2008.

Today I have a small business creating and producing live events and webinars for a wide range of clients including Hearst Communications, Russell Reynolds, Kenexa, and many others.

I've got a great wife and three young children, two boys who are eight and six, and a daughter who is four. Most of my free time is spent with them. I wish I could remember what I used to do with all my free time, because I know I had it before I had children. I love to grill meat outside, read books to my kids, and have an embarrassing addiction to The Amazing Race on CBS.

Business Description

Click Workspace is a co-working site and business incubator in Western Massachusetts. Northampton, Massachusetts. Situated just 100 miles from Boston and 150 from New York this community is home to a thriving community technologists, game developers, web developers, graphic designers. Yet the area lacks a focal point for this community of entrepreneurs. In fact, most of these businesses operate out of extra rooms and basements.

Our goal is to create an environment where these entrepreneurs gather to work, share ideas, and create businesses. We want to make this area a center of entrepreneurship, creating a vibrant alternative to Boston and New York, but also providing access to innovation capital in those markets and other innovation hubs.

We do this by providing physical space, but also through a series of workshops, and networking events.

Our customers are the entrepreneurs in the region, and what we're most proud of is providing a place where they can work, socialize, and be inspired by each other.
