Lydiah K.

Daily Farming

Borabu, Kenya

Personal Story

My name is Lydiah Moranga. I am 49 years old, married and currently supporting 2 children and several adult family members including those who do not live in my household. My life was hard growing up so I have decided to work very hard to support my family and educate my kids for a better future.

Business Description

I own 4 daily cows which help me supply milk in my village. This is very important as it not only improves my family income but improves my village health. There families in my village who do not own cows and so depend on our milk supply. My vision is to improve the milk yields so that I can meet the demand for milk.

What is the purpose of this loan?

I am applying for this loan in order to enable me purchase medicine and supplements for my cows as well as fertilizer to add to the grass and a bump to spray the cows with so I can keep at bay the ticks.

Lydiah K.'s loan is endorsed by Grace Mose. The information below explains why her trustee thinks Lydiah K. is a great candidate for a Kiva Zip loan.
How long have you known this person?

Tell us about your relationship with this borrower.

I knew Lydiah from being a fellow village woman but also because she is a member of the Grace Fund Women group which I started to help with the economic empowerment of women. I speak with her often on her cell phone and also to encourage discussions with the other women. Lydya, being a little older in the village brings a lot of wisdom to the younger women. She is a respectable woman, very hardworking and an example for others to follow.

Tell us about this borrower's personality and character, and why you are endorsing him or her for a Kiva Zip loan.

She is very straight forward and honest. Lydiah is very hardworking, and very engaging to other women. She takes initiatives in raising issues, solving problems and advocating for others. I am endorsing Lydiah so that she can strengthen her daily project and continue serving as a role model for the younger women. She stands up powerfully for her family and community and I think a loan from Kiva will be an opportunity to strengthen her project. She supplies the much needed milk to the village.

Tell us about this borrower's business, and why you believe a Kiva Zip loan will contribute to his or her success.

Lydiah owns a daily business. From here she sells and is able to fend for her family and extended family. Lydiah has several cows and often many villagers rely on her for the milk. Kiva loan will help her give her cows better care for more production. She has been having challenges feeding her cow, buying cow medicine and grass fertilizers, which is reducing her yields. She plans to buy cow tick medicine and a bump so the cows can be free of these bugs. She also plans to acquire fertilizers to spread on her fields so grass can grow. With increased yields Lydiah will have a humble time paying back the kiva loan. Her business is already impacting her family and community since she has been supplying those who do not have milk. I endorse Lydiah without reservations.
