Personal Story

I was born and raised in the Los Angeles, California region, and moved to Palm Springs, California 20 years ago for a more peaceful / serene lifestyle. My business career has been mainly in the sales / advertising / marketing fields. My early passions in life were all about motorsports.....car & motorcyle racing around the world. In the early 90's my passion became all things animals, with my life goal being able to help any and all animals that can't help themselves.

Business Description

JACK the DOG Pet Products was formed after I read a book by the man who created the Tom's Shoes company, and the program he created where for every pair of shoes they sell to the consumer, they donate a pair of shoes to people in need around the world. This was like a bolt of lightning to me! I instantly thought of how can I apply this same concept in the animal world? So I created JACK the DOG Pet Products & "JACK GIVES BACK". For example: Our first product line.....Personalized Pet Blankets......For every blanket we sell to the public, we are going to donate a new fleece blanket to an animal shelter in need....Shelters are in dire need of blankets year-round to help keep dogs & cats safe and warm.....The "giving back" part of JACK the DOG Pet Products company totally energizes me every single day, knowing that we are helping to comfort animals while they wait to hopefully be adopted into a good loving home.

What is the purpose of this loan?

This loan is to obtain printing equipment to print personalized pet blankets, initial inventory to launch the company, and funds for the initial launch of our website, Facebook and Twitter sites. We have done our "test marketing" phase of the business & the response to the product line has been very positive, so we are ready to successfully launch the company to the consumer.

Tim's loan is endorsed by Coachella Valley Small Business Development Center. The information below explains why his trustee thinks Tim is a great candidate for a Kiva Zip loan.
How long have you known this person?

Tell us about your relationship with this borrower.

Tim originally came to CVSBDC through a financial workshop in June 2012. Since then we've coached and worked with Tim to fine tune his business plan, projections and financials.

Tell us about this borrower's personality and character, and why you are endorsing him or her for a Kiva Zip loan.

Tim is hard-working, entrepreneurial and driven. He has a unique idea and product that caters to a specific pet-loving market. He has thoroughly researched his idea and first to seek out mentors to guide him through this process. He's very committed yet understands some of his potential blind spots, is humble enough to seek out guidance to help strengthen his plans; and integrates advice to refine it.

Tell us about this borrower's business, and why you believe a Kiva Zip loan will contribute to his or her success.

His business is a start-up and like many other start-ups is limited by the access to capital. Most banks won't lend for amounts under $10,000. Tim's idea can really take off and allow him to make the necessary investment to get this idea off the ground and launch his product. He's a person of character and I believe he'll do good with these funds.
