Personal Story

I'm Sharlia "Lia" Lee, owner of Street Boutique Fashion Truck. I'm an energetic 26 year old, originally from Southern California. I'm normally the three C's: cool, calm, and collected, but over the last few years, managing my marriage, raising my 6 year old daughter, and trying to become a successful entrepreneur before I'm thirty years old has turned my life upside down with drama. Currently, I'm just trying to make sense of my life, and avoid as many mistakes as possible on the road to success.

My professional background is in marketing. At the age of 23, I was named Marketing Director and Administrative manager over a staff of 30. I have since managed two additional companies with employee counts between 12-22. I don't take no for an answer, and as my first boss who took a chance on me said, "Be a bull dog!" In my short professional career, I produced countless marketing collateral, branding packages, websites, social media pages and more. However, after a few years, I knew I wanted to run my own company, not someone else's.

The sky truly is the limit for me. All may seem perfect, but my greatest set back and tragedy occurred 45 days ago, when my father suddenly passed away. Having to deal with his death, sort out his estate, manage my family, continue to run my business, and complete my marketing projects has recently taking me to my breaking point. I'm still struggling to hold on to original passion for my business and life, however, as stated before setbacks make me work harder. This year may have started with a tragedy, but I am determined to come out a winner and to make my father extremely proud of the person I have become.

Business Description

Street Boutique Fashion Truck offers a unique experience of a store on wheels. Our mobile boutique sells stylish women's clothing, accessories, and shoes. A little background: when I first met my husband, I told him my top 10 goals before I turned thirty, and I couldn't marry him unless he helped me reach them. It was a dream for me to create a successful, scalable business. When I discovered the mobile retail business model, it fit perfectly with my life plan. And yes, my husband has definitely been a tremendous support in helping me reach my goals.

After a few years in management, I knew I wanted to run my own company, not someone else's.

I love the variety my mobile boutique has. It is so fun to meet new, different, fun people each day. More importantly, my customers are so sweet! When I do my neighborhood pop-ups I have my regulars, and they bring me gifts, stories, lunch and more! I love the positive vibe of my business, and seeing my customers leave smiling and in good spirits. Even if they didn't purchase anything. I am most amazed at how much I have been able to accomplish, the fact that I built my store myself, and how everything just seemed to truly come together. I am so thankful for this time in my life, and I feel as if I have the power and potential to create anything! It's a great feeling! I have big plans for Street Boutique in the future, I plan to offer customized mobile retail business solutions. I have identified several niche products that serve my industry, and have global applications as well. This is certainly not the first business I've owned or ran, and it won't be the last! It is simply a step in the right direction for me.
