Personal Story

Born and raised in Honduras located in Central America, I arrived in the United States at the age of six to begin my journey to the American Dream. Raised in what was a new world to my young self, I had to navigate life while learning new customs and a new language, even while living in a traditional Spanish speaking Honduran home. I overcame all these challenges and differences to excel in art and design. After finishing my Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology, I began to understand that in order to realize my dreams, I would have to take great risks.

I describe myself as a born entrepreneur, and after graduation embarked on capturing what I felt was the perfect atheistic for ambitious fashionable young people as myself through launching IJayApparel. Creating clothing and accessories with strong messages of hope and inspiration, I design from my own desire for greatness, with the goal of inspiring it in others. I aspire to advertise the brand on all platforms, giving a voice to my generation’s path to the American Dream.

Business Description

Rooted in a philosophy of creativity, individuality and community, IJayApparel released in January of 2012. Producing top quality clothing that represents our freedom of expression and the pursuit of success, the IJayApparel Team works to create inspiring clothing for women and men from the ages of eighteen to thirty-five years old.

With dreams of being featured in major department stores all over the world, 2014 marked an important time for the brand as it expanded outside the United States being able to host a successful photo-shoot in London, Europe for the release of the “Dreams” Cap accessory. The “Dreams” cap was inspired by the team’s desire to launch the Touch Your Dreams Foundation in commemoration of the CEO’s own experience.

With a large interest in Honduras, IJayApparel aspires that the foundation will grow to support the academic dreams of children in Honduras providing both scholarship opportunities as well as supplies for local schools. On selected items from the brand, a percentage of the profits will be used for the Touch Your Dreams foundations goals.

In the hope of properly representing the brand, the loan will also be used to properly advertise and market the line through various mediums such as ads, commercials, and continued shoots overseas.

Dedicated to provide high quality products to their customers, IJayApparel would like to keep designing high quality products and the loan will ensure their ability to purchase better materials as well as work with manufactures who understand this importance.

Illbert is creating a foundation called “ Touch your dreams” . A portion of his profit goes towards school supplies, and he will hand deliver them to the kids in Honduras. Its a way for them to “ touch their dreams” The kids do not have school supplies because the parents can not afford them. It makes it hard for them to go to school
