Personal Story

Erin and I met through our mutual passion for menswear for women and transgender individuals. We bonded over an inability to find ready-wear clothing at even the nicest of retail locations. We want to make menswear accessible.

We have seen a growing need for custom suiting that are individually built for everyone's unique body. We met while working together at a former custom clothing company and when that company started to fail due to poor management, we decided that we wanted to be the innovative leaders in this industry. We feel as though it is our responsibility to provide the community with what is so deserved and needed.

Business Description

Kipper Clothiers is a new custom suiting and shirting venture founded on the notion that lesbians and trans-men want formal clothing that fits and looks great. We are based in San Francisco and draw from a clientele within the Greater Bay Area. We recognize that our customers want shirts and suits that create a more masculine silhouette.

We take over 36 body measurements from each client to ensure the best fit possible. When we receive garments back from our American-owned manufacturer, we have the client fitted by our in-house tailor. We work as hard as possible to maintain an open-minded, fashion-conscious culture, in which everyone is passionate about redefining iconic styles for lesbians and trans-men.

Our goal is to not only be a leader in this industry, but create a movement of well-dressed women and trans-men by providing style tips and proper fit education.

What is the purpose of this loan?

Kipper Clothiers is ready to go to the next level with our business. We are ready to start taking a larger client base. To do this, we will need professional photography ($1500) and a professional website ($1500).

With this combination of additions to our business we will be able to reach a wider audience and build a stronger customer base. We will be able to have a larger and more demanding web presence.

Our Put-Together Promise is a guarantee that we will guide our customers through the finishing touches and the finer details of a polished look. In order to fulfill this promise, we need neck wear (ties, bow ties, etc.) and accessories. The starting cost of this type of inventory is roughly $400.

Erin and I are currently working towards finding Kipper Clothiers a retail location. Due to lack of funds and the extremely competitive real estate market in San Francisco, we need the rest of the loan to secure our down payment.

Kyle & Erin's loan is endorsed by San Francisco Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender (LGBT) Community Center. The information below explains why her trustee thinks Kyle & Erin is a great candidate for a Kiva Zip loan.
