Personal Story

I grew up in Kibera, living with my mother after losing our dad at the age of 4. My mother provided for us by washing clothes for people. It was a struggle for a family of five. Now things are a bit stable, I got to train as an electrician, I repair household electronics. With this I have been able to pay for my siblings' fees and my family. I then began a food kiosk and it's doing well supplementing my income. My dream is to expand my kiosk into a renowned restaurant.

Personal Update - Sep 16, 2013

My family is the happiest in the world. My wife is forever grateful to Kiva. I have managed to move to a bigger house to accommodation my big family due to the increase in earnings. My children enjoy being in school and their self esteem has gone up because they are no longer chased from school which was affecting their self esteem.

Personal Update - Apr 12, 2013

Life has became less stressful. I am now enjoying my marriage and the company of my family. This is because I am able to be a responsible father and husband by meeting all their basic needs.

Business Description

I sell food to workers in Kibera. I began the business in January so as to supplement my income, occupy my wife, and stabilize finances in my family. My biggest challenge is lack of capital to expand and offer food variety, so as to meet the needs and preference of my customers. My dream is to run a renowned, high quality restaurant.

Business Update - Sep 16, 2013

My business has really grown, I am amazed and motivated more. Customers have been flocking to my kiosk because of the quality of food we serve. Due to the increase sales, I managed to employee a professional cook, this has made my food kiosk the envy of many in Kibera.

Business Update - Apr 12, 2013

The business has expanded in terms of the number of clients that come to my food kiosk daily. I now offer a wide variety of foods that suite the varied tastes and preferences of my clients.
