Personal Story

My name is Antony Muema Kang'ata. I was born in Kalundu sublocation, in Kitui District, in Eastern Region. I am from a family of 7 children whereby one is dead. My family is of 5 brothers and one sister now. I grew up in a village called Misuuni.

My life was not good because my parents were not in a position to care for us due to poverty. My father passed away when I was in class seven and we were left with our mother. She worked hard at her beer-brewing business, but still had trouble caring for our needs.

Searching for a job, I landed in the Coast Province in a town called Mombasa. I worked as a hawker, then moved to Malindi and began the business I am doing at the moment.

I am married with 4 children, and we are living peacefully. My dream is to work hard and have things for my own which I can leave for my children as inheritance because our parents left nothing for us. I would also be happy to see my family living in a good status not like we were brought up.

Personal Update - Apr 4, 2013

My loan equally impacted my profit and my family's lifestyle. Both improved because of the loan.

Business Description

My business deals with farmers. I move to the farmers and buy Moringa from their farms. After buying, I come and dry the leaves of Moringa in a dryer and then sell the dried leaves.

I decided to start the business in the year 2008 but due to lack of capital, I began in 2009. I entered this business when I learned about Moringa and knew that there was plenty around me. I earn money from it and take care of my family because employment was a challenge for me because of my level of education.

My biggest challenge is capital. My goal is to produce and expand my business to create opportunities for others.
